The clients brief to the architect for a contemporary addition to an existing Californian Bungalow evolved into a state of the art contemporary building added to the rear of the existing property.
Barra Building worked closely with the architects and the client on a design and construct basis throughout the project to achieve the desired end product.
The separation between the Californian Bungalow and contemporary addition is achieved by the clever use of a glazed atrium entry between the two buildings.
The exterior of the contemporary addition is a mixture of rendered brickwork to the ground level with “Alucobond” panelling to the first floor achieving a low maintenance modern look to the building.
Other materials used in the addition included commercial section aluminium windows and doors, highly detailed structural steel, natural stone products such as Travertine and limestone and Modwood reconstituted timber for external fences.
The scope also included underground water tanks, installation of a high end pool, hard and soft landscape works and electronic sliding gates.
The existing Californian Bungalow was completely refurbished back to its original charm and character with colour schemes selected by the design consultant to ensure the two buildings blend in harmony.
